Senate Confirms Jeanine Pirro To Serve As U.S. Attorney For D.C.

The Senate on Saturday confirmed Jeanine Pirro, the former Fox host and commentator, to serve as U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia.

Pirro was confirmed on a 50-45 vote along party lines.

Donald Trump named her acting U.S. attorney in May, and later nominated her to take the position permanently.

Sen. Dick Durbin (D-IL), the top Democrat on the Judiciary Committee, wrote on X in reaction to the confirmation, “Jeanine Pirro should never be a permanent U.S. Attorney. She endorsed the firing of January 6 prosecutors. She recklessly spread the Big Lie to the point her *own producers* had to tell her to cool it. Ultimately, she’s a rubber stamp for Donald Trump.”

Durbin was referring to revelations that were made public in Dominion Voting Systems defamation lawsuit against Fox News. The network settled the case for $787.5 million.

More to come.
