The beginning of August seemed to have been sent from the heavens as the month started off with Cynthia Erivo as Jesus and Adam Lambert as Judas in the Hollywood Bowl’s electrifying production of “Jesus Christ Superstar.”

The three-night run included multiple standing ovations, high critical praise and celebrity sightings in the audience, including Erivo’s “Wicked” co-stars Michelle Yeoh and Jeff Goldblum, as well as Kristin Chenoweth, Kathy Griffin, Jenifer Lewis, Michelle Visage, Cheyenne Jackson, Dan Bucatinsky and Chris Colfer. “JCS” composer Andrew Lloyd Webber made a surprise appearances during the first night’s curtain call.

The summer heat of New York City got even hotter with Chris Pratt and Taylor Kitsch premiering “The Terminal List: Dark Wolf” at the Regal Times Square. Also in the city were “Wednesday” stars Georgie Farmer, Emma Myers, Noah Taylor Luis Guzmán and Fred Armisen taking in WWE RAW Live on Netflix at the Barclays Center.
