In a significant change, Comcast has announced plans to transition all Comcast.net email accounts from its current Xfinity Email platform to the Yahoo Mail platform. The announcement, detailed in an email sent to customers on August 2, 2025, outlines a phased migration set to occur over the next several months, promising improved functionality and advanced features for its users.
According to the email from Comcast, the shift to Yahoo Mail will provide customers with a “premium email solution” designed to streamline communication and organization. Yahoo Mail’s AI-driven inbox management, robust security features, integrated calendar, and highly rated mobile app were highlighted as key benefits of the transition. Importantly, Comcast assured customers that their existing Comcast.net email addresses, along with all messages, folders, and contacts, will remain intact during the move.
The transition process is structured to ensure minimal disruption. Approximately 30 days from the initial announcement, Comcast customers will receive a follow-up email prompting them to sign into connect.xfinity.com to accept Yahoo’s terms of service, officially completing the migration to the Yahoo Mail platform. Users will have a 120-day window to complete this step. Comcast emphasized that email addresses will not change, allowing customers to continue using their familiar Comcast.net addresses seamlessly on the new platform. If you don’t act though you will lose your email account.
For those who prefer not to transition to Yahoo Mail, Comcast has provided an option to export data and close their email accounts. Customers can visit https://export.xfinity.com to initiate this process. The company underscored its commitment to making the transition as smooth as possible, promising additional guidance and support through subsequent emails when it’s time to finalize the move.
Shutting down its email service will help Comcast save money as increasingly more people shift ot services like Yahoo and Gmail. Yahoo Mail, known for its user-friendly interface and features, is expected to enhance the email experience for Comcast’s customer base.
As the migration unfolds, Comcast customers are encouraged to stay tuned for further instructions and to explore the new features Yahoo Mail will bring. With a focus on improved security and organization, this transition marks a new chapter for Comcast’s email services, aiming to deliver a more efficient and connected experience for users nationwide.
