Kristin Cabot, the HR executive caught in a clandestine kiss with her boss at a Coldplay concert last summer, is opening up about a shocking angle to the story that still has netizens captivated.
“I was walking into the concert and my daughter messaged me and said, ‘Oh it’s so great that you and Andrew are both at Coldplay,'” Cabot told Oprah Winfrey in a clip that premiered on PEOPLE ahead of tomorrow’s new episode of The Oprah Podcast.
Andrew is Cabot’s estranged husband, Andrew Cabot, the CEO of a rum distillery. Cabot didn’t attend the July 16 Coldplay show at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Mass., with Andrew, but Andy — that is, Andy Byron, her married boss whom she was seen snuggling on the kiss cam.
“So she let me know that my estranged husband was also at the concert,” Cabot continued. “In my mind I thought, ‘Is this going to be weird if he sees me with Andy?’ Like that crossed my mind.”
But then she reasoned, “I’m in Gillette Stadium, there’s 55,000 people here, I’m probably not going to run into him.” Cabot has definitely sat with the irony of that thought, considering what followed. “That would have been better at the end of the day if I’d just run into him,” she surmised.

Cabot said that her estranged husband “knows how closely Andy and I worked together, he knows we socialized — like got lunches and got drinks. It was fine.” Beyond that, Andrew understands “the nature of my work and the way, the relationships — I’ve shared desks with the CEOs I’ve worked with,” as well as the nature of their “very close relationship. And so it didn’t matter.”
A source close to Cabot previously told PEOPLE that Andrew was on his own date at the concert.
The fallout from Cabot and Byron being caught on the kiss cam in an affectionate embrace, causing them both to rapidly duck out of frame, very much did matter.
Coldplay lead singer Chris Martin immediately called out the moment as it happened live. “Oh, look at these two,” he announced to the packed arena. “Either they’re having an affair or they’re just very shy.” The video originally shared by a concert attendee to TikTok quickly racked up millions of views.
Both Cabot and Byron ultimately left their posts as CEO and chief people officer at Astronomer, a data engineering company. Cabot later claimed that Byron was in the middle of his own separation from wife Megan, but the couple has since been photographed together wearing their wedding rings.
“I made a bad decision and had a couple of High Noons and danced and acted inappropriately with my boss,” Cabot said when she finally broke her silence about the incident in December. Regarding the “500 to 600 calls a day,” doxxing, and death threats that followed, Cabot reflected, “I want my kids to know that you can make mistakes, and you can really screw up. But you don’t have to be threatened to be killed for them.”
