When the Venice Film Festival announced its lineup for 2025 earlier this week (here’s ten films we can’t wait to see), Saint Laurent Productions revealed its fourth feature film: Father Mother Sister Brother, which is both written and directed by Jim Jarmusch.
The film features an all-star cast including Cate Blanchett, Charlotte Rampling, Vicky Krieps, Adam Driver, Tom Waits, Indya Moore, and Luka Sabbat, and is a self-proclaimed “anti-action film”, revolving around family relationships between adult children and their “somewhat distant” parents. Yesterday (July 25), it was also selected as the centrepiece for the 63rd annual New York Film Festival.
The French fashion house’s film subsidiary has released several feature films before now: Best Picture-nominated Emilia Pérez, David Cronenberg’s The Shrouds and Parthenope, and Pedro Almodóvar’s Strange Way of Life. The Jim Jarmusch offering will be in competition and part of the official selection of the 2025 Venice Film Festival.
Elsewhere in fashion this week, The Devil Wears Prada 2 has been on everyone’s lips as Miranda Priestly made her return with Collina Strada in tow. Jonathan Anderson will rejoin Luca Guadagnino for his third film working alongside the director, this time for AI drama Artificial, while in Hackney, APOC opened its new permanent IRL location. Here’s everything else you need to catch up on…
