Samay Raina Cracks Jokes Outside Supreme Court, Supports Mohak Mangal Amid Disability Remark Row

Comedian Samay Raina, caught in a legal storm over allegations of mocking people with disabilities on his comedy show India’s Got Latent, made headlines once again — this time for his viral quips outside the Supreme Court.

Despite facing FIRs, nationwide outrage, and parliamentary scrutiny, the stand-up comic maintained his trademark humour as he appeared before India’s highest court along with co-comedians Vipul Goyal, Balraj Paramjeet Singh Ghai, Sonali Thakkar (Sonali Aditya Desai), and Nishant Jagdish Tanwar to submit a formal apology.

Viral Moment Outside SC

As the paparazzi and media swarmed him outside the courtroom, Raina kept it brief but witty. When asked to comment on the ongoing legal proceedings, he quipped:

Wahin kahenge na, aapko thodhi kahenge
(Whatever I have to say, I’ll say in court, not to you.)

The clip quickly went viral across social media platforms, with fans praising his composure and humour even in the face of serious allegations.

“I Support Mohak Mangal”

In a separate viral moment, when questioned by a reporter from news agency ANI about the controversy, Raina unexpectedly pivoted the conversation by declaring:

“I support Mohak Mangal.”

The remark was a direct reference to YouTuber Mohak Mangal, who recently accused ANI of blackmail and copyright extortion, claiming the agency demanded ₹40 lakh from him in exchange for lifting strikes on his video content. Mangal released a tell-all video, prompting ANI to deny the allegations and label his content as “defamatory.”

Raina’s statement has now triggered further debate on digital rights, creator freedom, and media ethics in India.

Background: Disability Remark Controversy

The controversy began when an episode of India’s Got Latent was accused of containing insensitive jokes targeting people with disabilities, leading to widespread backlash. FIRs were filed in Maharashtra and Assam, and Raina also appeared before the National Commission for Women (NCW) to apologize for remarks perceived as disrespectful to women.

The show’s co-host Ranveer Allahbadia, also known as BeerBiceps, has been named in multiple complaints alongside Raina.

What’s Next?

The comedians’ written apologies are now part of the official court record. Legal proceedings are still ongoing, and whether criminal charges will be pursued remains to be seen.

Meanwhile, Raina’s fans and critics alike continue to debate the fine line between freedom of expression and offensive content — a recurring theme in India’s comedy scene.
