The package was discovered outside the New York Police Department’s precinct near West 43rd Street and Seventh Avenue at about 10:30 am, according to police sources quoted by The Independent, citing information given to Newsweek.
An NYPD spokesperson confirmed that officers had responded to the incident and were investigating the item. “We evacuated the area out of caution while the package was being checked,” the spokesperson told The Independent.
