What Former Governor Satya Pal Malik Wrote Two Months Before His Death

by akwaibomtalent@gmail.com

Former Governor of Jammu & Kashmir, Bihar, and three other states, Satya Pal Malik — known for his outspoken views and proudly identifying himself as a disciple of farmer leader Chaudhary Charan Singh — passed away after a prolonged illness. Malik had been undergoing treatment in a hospital for several months but continued to express his views through posts on X (formerly Twitter).

Just two months before his demise, on June 7, 2025, he posted a message that is now being widely circulated. In the post, Malik, who was battling kidney problems, wrote:

“I have been admitted to the hospital for nearly a month and am struggling with kidney issues. Whether I live or not, I want to tell the people of this country the truth.”

Allegations of Bribery During Governorship

Malik claimed that during his tenure as Governor, he was offered bribes of ₹150 crore on two separate occasions. He said he rejected these offers, staying true to the principles of his political mentor, the late Chaudhary Charan Singh.

Referring to the farmers’ protest, Malik wrote that he supported farmers’ demands without any political motive. He also recalled standing with protesting women wrestlers “from Jantar Mantar to India Gate” in their fight for justice.

Pulwama Attack and Corruption Charges

In the same post, Malik alleged that the government never conducted an investigation into the Pulwama terror attack that killed CRPF personnel. He claimed that attempts were being made to falsely implicate him in a corruption case through a fabricated chargesheet, despite the fact that he had himself cancelled the tender in question after informing the Prime Minister about irregularities.

“I Am Not One to Fear or Bow Down”

Reaffirming his defiance, Malik wrote:

“I come from the farming community. I am neither afraid nor willing to bow down. The government has used all its might to tarnish my image. I urge the government and its agencies to tell the people of my beloved country the truth about what they found against me in their investigation.”

He further stated that despite holding high offices during his over 50-year-long political career, he still lived in a one-room house and was in debt.

“If I had amassed wealth, I would have been getting treated in a private hospital,” he added.

This June 7 post now reads as a final, unfiltered statement from one of India’s most outspoken political figures — a man who continued to challenge authority until the very end.
