To follow up on the new Sony PXW-Z300, a lightweight, professional 4K camera built for run-and-gun shooters, ENG professionals, and all types of documentary-style filmmakers, Zacuto has released an add-on to address one of the main concerns with this new Sony camcorder.
The Sony Z300 brings some impressive specs and versatility, but it doesn’t come with a traditional built-in viewfinder. The Sony Z300 does feature an upgraded LCD screen with a swivel mount that could be great for certain situations, but challenging for others.

The Sony PXW-Z300 Announcement
Packed with a ton of broadcast-friendly features, Sony’s PXW-Z300 3-CMOS XDCAM Camcorder uses a 3-CMOS 1/2″-type sensor to capture up to UHD 4K60 video. It features advanced AI autofocus, improved network functions, video authentication, a high-bright, touchscreen LCD side V-mount, flexible LCD arm, HEVC proxies, and SRT streaming.
The PXW-Z300’s BIONZ XR image processor works with the three 4K Exmor R CMOS sensors in real time to capture finely detailed, lifelike images with excellent color reproduction, deep depth of field, and very low noise.
The Z300 also features a 17x zoom lens that provides a 30.3 to 515mm (35mm equivalent) range with a constant f/1.9 maximum aperture. A digital extender provides 2x, 3x, or 4x magnification in HD and 1.5x magnification in UHD 4K. All great specs and features for a pro camcorder.
