Sony Buys Shipley Brothers’ ‘This Could Be Our Night’

EXCLUSIVE: Justin and Jordan Shipley’s comedy screenplay This Could Be Our Night has sold in a pre-emptive sale to Sony, we understand.

The project is billed as being in the vein of superbad and Booksmart. Producer meetings happening now, we understand.

The brother are the creators, executive producers, and showrunners on the three seasons of the TBS comedy series Wrecked. They made their directorial debut in the show’s third season, taking the helm on episodes three and four. Wrecked starred Zach Cregger, who recently had a No. 1 opening hit in this past weekend’s Weapons (and is also directing Resident Evil for the Culver City lot), Asif Ali, Rhys Darby among others. The series followed a group of survivors whose plane crashes on a deserted island on the way to Thailand.

The brothers were also executive producers on the second and planned third season of The Afterparty on AppleTV+.

The duo also sold their original pitch Schemers to to Hulu with Fishbach Productions/More Better/20th Century Studios attached to produce as well as their animated show Mikey & the Last Mike to the streamer with with Amblin/Haven Entertainment/20th Century Studios producing.

They also previously sold The Detective Boys to Netflix with Cregger producing and directing.

Another sale includes their first original feature, They’ve Got Our Daugther to Lionsgate with Point Grey/Haven Entertainment producing. That project is currently out to actors for two lead roles. The Shipleys also count sales at Netflix, Disney + and Paramount+.

The duo are repped by WME, Haven Entertainment and Hansen, Jacobson, Teller, etc.
