YouTube has unveiled a new suite of generative AI tools aimed at making Shorts creation faster and more dynamic. Announced during its Made on YouTube live event, the updates include Veo 3 Fast, AI-powered editing, remixing tools, and more.
Veo 3 Fast, a custom version of Google’s text-to-video model Veo 3, allows creators to generate short video clips at 480p with lower latency, now with sound support. It also brings new creative capabilities, such as animating still images by transferring motion from videos, applying artistic styles like origami or pop art, and adding objects through text prompts. These features will roll out over the coming months in the U.S., U.K., Canada, Australia, and New Zealand, with global expansion planned later.
YouTube is also testing a Speech to Song remixing tool, which converts dialogue from eligible videos into soundtracks for Shorts. Powered by Google’s AI music model Lyria 2, it lets creators customize tracks with vibes such as “chill,” “danceable,” or “fun.”
Another highlight is the Edit with AI feature, designed to help creators turn raw footage into first-draft Shorts. The tool automatically identifies the best clips, arranges them with music and transitions, and can even add AI voice-overs in English or Hindi. Initially being tested within YouTube Create and Shorts, the feature will expand to select markets soon.
